Electric truck batteries can generally be classified into various types depending on their operational use. They include Lithium-ion, Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), and Lead-Acid batteries. Long-distance electric trucks make use of lithium-ion batteries because of their high energy density and lightweight properties. NiMH batteries are also very reliable in terms of structural integrity and performance; whereas, Lead-Acid batteries are more common in smaller electric vehicles due to being cost-effective. Knowing these different battery types will assist fleet operators to identify the best applicable solution in terms of distance, price, and purpose.
